An architectural essay on the ritual of gathering, timber prefabrication, and adaptable micro-architecture. Conceived by Sanber Studio for the Concéntrico Festival.

Inserted quietly into the rolling vineyard, the deep red structure establishes a horizontal benchmark that honors the landscape while hosting the collective ritual of sharing.

Architecture at its most essential level creates spaces for human connection. A Table for 40 People explores the Mediterranean tradition of gathering around a single continuous table, translating a domestic act into a landscape intervention.

Modular Timber Pavilion Architecture

The structural logic stems directly from a commitment to resource efficiency and zero material waste. By analyzing standard manufacturing dimensions, the design derives its entire geometric system from standard Garnica Efficiency Poplar plywood panels (2500X1220X25mm)

The System Breakdown

• The Four-Person Unit: Each independent module accommodates four people, combining integrated seating, a solid table surface, structural timber posts, and an adjustable canopy.

• Rationalized Cutting Pattern: Exactly three standard poplar panels yield one complete four-person module. Ten repeated modules form the full forty-person installation using thirty panels in total, achieving zero off-cut waste.

• Kinetically Adaptable Roof: An intuitive manual pulley and steel cable system allows users to alter the canopy angle. This simple mechanical detail empowers occupants to regulate sunlight and wind protection based on immediate weather conditions.

Material Taxonomy and Landscape Dialogue

The materiality establishes a clear dialogue between industrial precision and natural context.

• European Poplar Plywood (Garnica): Lightweight, sustainably harvested timber that forms the main structural shell, benching, and table surfaces, providing tactile warmth.

• Deep Red Canopy Finish: The terracotta/deep red shade on the textile shelter complements the natural green and earthy tones of the vineyard, creating a subtle visual landmark.

• Stainless Steel & Tensioners: Minimalist metallic hardware provides structural rigidity against wind loads while keeping the overall assembly visually light.
